The Grove Hill Arts Council sponsored a "Turning Art Into Business" workshop and "Southern Art Bazaar" on March 10th and 11th, 2006 in the Grove Hill National Guard Armory.  The Friday workshop  valuable to anyone with a small or in-home business and the bazaar provided an opportunity for everyone to show, sell, or purchase local art.

The workshop was Friday, March 10th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.   Topics discussed included marketing, advertising, minority entrepreneurship, the economic impact of art and tax advantages of a small business, all focusing on art as a business.  The conclusion of the workshop was the "Blackbelt Treasures" success story, an example of merging good business practices with enthusiastic creativity.

The "Southern Art Bazaar" booths exhibited the works of area artisans for show and sale.  The opening reception Friday, March 10th from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. featured live music, refreshments, and southern art.   The "Southern Art Bazaar" was open to the public Saturday March 11th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

It has been decided that this event will be a BIENNIAL one (scheduled for every other year), with our next Southern Art Bazaar being held in the spring of 2008.
